The original mandate of the Russian Railway Service Corps (RRSC) was to aid the Russian Provisional Government by restoring and maintaining the efficiency of the Trans-Siberian Railway. The RRSC consisted of American engineers and railroad experts commanded by Colonel George H. Emerson.
